By comparison, Griftlands is far more expansive, but not nearly as stringent (which can be seen as a positive or negative). I really enjoyed StS and can't knock it - was hands-down a great purchase - but compared to Griftlands, it feels a lot more limited. Griftlands gives you a wealth of opportunities to build before things escalate, but doesn't have the same pressure to min-max compared to StS when climbing.

Same can be said for StS though, which typically boils down to ascension and has more room for RNG / lucking-out compared to Griftlands (at least until a few ascension levels where it gets much stricter). If you enjoy deckbuilding and want a game that you will play for thousands of hours and return back again then StS is definitely a more reasonable choice. If you think that art and style are more important, Griftlands is definitel the way to go. Quite honestly, I don't even want to finish grinding prestige levels for Rook's storyline. I personally find another run (after beating all prestige levels) a chore for reasons I outlined in my post here. However, after finishing the stories, there is little incentive to replay the game. Griftlands is an outstanding game that is worth more than what the devs are asking for just for the art and three different storylines alone. I think that people who "don't understand" the hype behind StS have not yet invested enough time to see the differences in replayability and the depth of deck building/variety of runs in StS. I don't think i will put nearly as many hours in Grift as i did Slay.
